  Weekly Update: Lake Waco - April 26th, 2024 Lake Conditions: (At 2024-04-26 19:15) Water Level (ft): 462.30 Conservation Pool Elev. (ft): 462.20 Level : 0.10 feet above pool. Temperature : 66 *F Clarity : Stained - The lake is stained to murky with recent runoff from rains. Please Note : Lake Waco is currently murky due to runoff and high winds. Boaters should take caution by wearing their PFDs while on the lake due to unpredictable storms with high winds and waves. Navigate with caution watching for stumps and debris in the lake from recent runoff.   Fishing Conditions: White Bass: White bass have begun returning to the upper lake : Boaters will begin catching more white bass and hybrids on the lake while they migrate from the upper ends of the lake towards the dam over the next few weeks.   Crappie : Crappie bite is improving in shallow water on live minnows and artificial jigs fished around shoreline trees in the back of coves and marinas.        Weekly Update  (4/21)  - Inks Lake Inks Lake Overview: Inks Reservoir is a 768-acre impoundment of the Colorado River. It was constructed in 1938 by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) hydroelectric power, recreation, and water supply. The reservoir is located within the Llano uplift eco-region, and its shoreline length is 20.5 miles. Public access is only available through the state park. This stable-level rocky reservoir has plenty of structural fish habitat and some cover in the form of timber, emergent aquatic vegetation, and artificial fish attractors. Fishing Cover/Structure: Inks Lake offers a variety of cover and structure. The shoreline contains numerous rock piles, ledges, and chunk rock banks. Brush piles and gravel beds have been placed near fishing piers and other strategic locations to attract more fish.   Weekly Report: Lake Limestone   Tips & Best Practices: -         Largemouth Bass During February and April, anglers find largemouth bass in the middle of their spawn. Any of the major creeks can be productive for bass in the spring, but look for the ones with the warmest water. Fish the backs of the creeks and protected main lake coves with vegetation on the northern shoreline. Large willow leaf spinner baits in white or chartreuse, or jig and pork combinations in black/blue and black/chartreuse are excellent baits for springtime bass. From May through September, bass anglers are most successful fishing off points on the main lake around vegetation or submerged timber. Points bordering deep water are best. Plastic worms, spinner baits, buzz baits, and chugger type baits can all be good during summer months.   Structure & Underwater Topography:            Lake Buchanan offers a variety of cover and structure. The area near the dam and the east side of the lake up to the Silver Creek area is rocky. This area has numerous rock piles, ledges, and chunk rock banks. This area is reminiscent of a highland-type lake. The west side from mid-lake up looks more like a flatland type reservoir with numerous flat coves that have a lot of flooded brush to fish when the lake is up. Targeting Game Fish: Large Mouth Bass: Anglers have their best success on Lake Buchanan during the spring and fall months. The area from Beaver Creek to the Colorado River is usually stained. This keeps the largemouth bass shallow regardless of the water temperature. In the lower section of the reservoir where the water remains clear, topwater lures, metal flake willow leaf spinnerbaits and shallow to medium depth crankbaits work well along rocky banks.
